5 CHICKEN RECIPES FOR KIDS

Here are five kid-friendly chicken recipes that are easy to make and sure to be a hit with the little ones:


1. Crispy Chicken Tenders

Ingredients:

  • 1 lb chicken tenders or chicken breast cut into strips
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs (or panko for extra crunch)
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Cooking spray or oil for baking

Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Mix breadcrumbs, Parmesan, garlic powder, paprika, salt, and pepper in a bowl.
  3. Dip chicken strips into beaten eggs, then coat with the breadcrumb mixture.
  4. Place on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and spray lightly with cooking spray.
  5. Bake for 15-20 minutes, flipping halfway, until golden and cooked through.
  6. Serve with ketchup, honey mustard, or their favorite dipping sauce.

2. Chicken and Veggie Stir-Fry

Ingredients:

  • 1 lb chicken breast, cut into small pieces
  • 2 cups mixed veggies (carrots, broccoli, bell peppers, etc.)
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp honey
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • Cooked rice or noodles for serving

Instructions:

  1. Heat olive oil in a large skillet or wok over medium heat.
  2. Add chicken and cook until no longer pink, about 5-7 minutes.
  3. Add garlic and veggies, stirring for 5 minutes until tender-crisp.
  4. Mix soy sauce and honey, then pour over the chicken and veggies.
  5. Stir well and cook for another 2 minutes.
  6. Serve over rice or noodles.

3. Cheesy Chicken Quesadillas

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup cooked chicken, shredded or diced
  • 1 cup shredded cheese (cheddar or Mexican blend)
  • 4 small tortillas
  • 1/2 cup salsa (optional)
  • 1/4 cup sour cream (optional)
  • 1 tbsp butter or oil

Instructions:

  1. Heat a skillet over medium heat and lightly butter one side of each tortilla.
  2. Place one tortilla butter-side down in the skillet.
  3. Sprinkle cheese and chicken on half of the tortilla, then fold it over.
  4. Cook for 2-3 minutes on each side until golden and cheese is melted.
  5. Cut into wedges and serve with salsa and sour cream.

4. Chicken and Rice Casserole

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups cooked chicken, shredded or diced
  • 2 cups cooked rice
  • 1 cup mixed veggies (peas, carrots, corn)
  • 1 cup shredded cheese
  • 1 can cream of chicken soup
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large bowl, mix chicken, rice, veggies, soup, milk, garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
  3. Transfer to a greased baking dish and top with shredded cheese.
  4. Bake for 20-25 minutes until bubbly and cheese is melted.
  5. Let cool slightly before serving.

5. Honey Garlic Chicken Bites

Ingredients:

  • 1 lb chicken breast, cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 3 tbsp honey
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch (optional, for thickening)
  • Sesame seeds (optional, for garnish)

Instructions:

  1. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat.
  2. Add chicken pieces and cook until browned and cooked through, about 6-8 minutes.
  3. In a small bowl, mix honey, soy sauce, and garlic.
  4. Pour the sauce over the chicken and stir to coat. If you want a thicker sauce, mix cornstarch with 1 tbsp water and add to the skillet.
  5. Cook for another 2-3 minutes until the sauce thickens.
  6. Sprinkle with sesame seeds and serve with rice or veggies.
